Republic gold 100 Francs 1896-A MS63 Prooflike NGC, Paris mint, KM832, Fr-590, Gad-1137. A key date in the series, and one which saw a total mintage of only 400 pieces, compared to others exceeding 20,000 and even 30,000 examples for later dates. While a handful of technically finer specimens have come to market in recent years, those bestowed the coveted Prooflike designation are difficult to locate, at best. Only one of three for this date at NGC and sure to cause quite a stir when crossing the auction block.
