Description

1950 Franklin Half, Border-Toned MS67+
Full Bell Lines Condition Rarity

1950 50C MS67+ Full Bell Lines PCGS. Superb Gem 1950 Franklin half dollars are rare, but almost all are designated Full Bell Lines by the grading services. This Plus-graded MS67 Full Bell Lines coin is tied for the finest known. We have handled a number of MS67s in the past, but only one has been Plus-graded. That piece, lot 4146 in our August 2015 ANA Signature sale, realized more than $18,000. The current coin is the only other Plus-graded Superb Gem known. Most of each side is satiny with light golden toning, although about 75% of the obverse border showcases vivid forest-green, violet, amber, and sun-gold toning. The strike is sharp, and there are no distracting abrasions. Population: 19 in 67 (2 in 67+) Full Bell Lines, 0 finer (4/17).(Registry values: N4719)
