1953-S Half Dollar, MS65 Full Bell Lines
Significant Strike Rarity, One Coin Finer

1953-S 50C MS65 Full Bell Lines NGC. The 1953-S Franklin half dollar claims an unassuming mintage of 4.1 million coins and is a readily available issue through Premium Gem condition. However, examples are hardly ever found with Full Bell Lines, making this Gem a significant rarity. Indeed, while NGC has graded more than 5,700 1953-S halves, the services reports merely 14 FBL submissions, including eight coins in MS65 and a single MS66 finer (12/18).

Specks of crimson and gunmetal patina occur around the obverse border. That side is otherwise frosty and brilliant, while the reverse is richly toned in similar hues. The devices exhibit pinpoint-sharp detail, and there are just a couple of small reeding marks on the forehead and lower curls. This would make a great addition to a specialized collection.(Registry values: N4719)
