A Late-Date Strike Rarity
1961-D 50C MS66 Full Bell Lines PCGS. A scarce, late-date
Franklin half that was recognized about 20 years ago as a strike
rarity. This recognition of its rarity seemed to roughly coincide
with the advent of third-party grading and the publication of
population data. This piece has a hard, metallic sheen over each
side. Most of the surfaces are brilliant except for a thin crescent
of deeper color around the reverse. Population: 11 in 66, 0 finer
