Description

1959 Franklin Half, Immaculate PR69 Cameo
Tied for Finest at PCGS

1959 50C PR69 Cameo PCGS. Ex: Blue Ocean. The Mint managed a production of more than 1.1 million half dollar proofs in 1959 -- one of the highest mintages for any proof issue in its history at that point in time. And yet even today, just 1.2% of that total shows sufficient field-device contrast on each side to warrant a Cameo designation from PCGS and NGC combined. Not only are Cameo proofs scarce, but they are rarely found in PR68 or finer. The present coin is one of just two PR69 Cameo specimens at PCGS (3/20). Each side is pristine -- all-brilliant, with captivating field reflectivity. This is a phenomenal offering pedigreed to a well-respected collection that should generate spirited bidding.
