Description
Breathtaking Bird of Paradise Proof 20 Mark
German Colony. Wilhelm II gold Proof 20 Mark 1895-A PR67 Ultra
Cameo NGC, Berlin mint, KM9, J-709, D&S-385, Fr-1. Mintage:
1,500 (for both Proof and Business Strikes). The largest
denomination struck for German New Guinea and one of only two gold
issues produced. This is the King of the famed Bird of Paradise
series from 1894 and 1895, universally recognized among the most
attractive numismatic designs ever created. Either as part of the
larger German New Guinea set or as a standalone representative,
this is one of the most desirable types in numismatics that could
be placed in any top-tier coin collection for it's superlative
beauty alone. For those considering adding an example to their
collection, the present selection is the single finest Proof
specimen ever certified, you will likely never find a superior
example. This is the only piece to be graded at the Superb Gem
Proof tier in combination with an Ultra Cameo designation, the
closest being a PR67 in Cameo also at NGC and the Louis E.
Eliasberg, Sr specimen residing in a PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS holder.
The coin on offer, not surprisingly, is practically flawless;
showings mirrors as dark as the midnight sky and an overall level
of brilliance and perfection that is almost hard to fathom. A
bonafide trophy coin destined for one of the finest collections of
World numismatics currently being assembled.Metal: Gold
