Description

Augsburg. Free City Taler 1635 MS65 NGC, Augsburg mint, KM61, Dav-5035, Forster-254. With the name and titles of Ferdinand II. For all intents and purposes, a flawless coin--a statement which should carry an enormous weight for any emission of the 17th century. Indeed, one could inspect this representative for hours and hardly come away disappointed--flow lines cluster near to the raised elements, creating a spectacular sheen for golden luster to silhouette these elements. Contained areas of die rust offer one of the few hints that this piece was not minted from fresh dies, a fact which, however, has not caused it to suffer in the least. For comparison, we have offered only one example previously, an MS62 which brought $2040 in November 2020.
