Description

Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle. Christian Ludwig 4 Taler 1664-LW MS62 PCGS, Clausthal mint, KM223.5, Dav-LS187, Welter-1495. 116.06gm. Lippold Weber as mint master. Value stamp "4" on reverse. A stunning quadruple Taler, from a 1664 series donning this exquisite mining scene (and of course the leaping horse) that features multiple Taler denominations as high as 12! The prancing horse design is a virtual icon of the Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle series, but rarely is this motif displayed in such an inspiring combination of expansive size and top-tier preservation. This near-Choice Mint State specimen is the technical equal of the Paramount specimen of the same issue (that piece is NGC certified), a tempting offering for the Multiple Taler specialist.
