Hamburg. Free City gold Bankportugalöser of 10 Ducats 1716, Gaed-1736, Vogel Coll. 8745, 51mm, 34.83g, UNC, lightly hairlined from gentle mishandling.  On the obverse, Fortuna stands atop a globe restrained by Prudence and Concord.  The reverse depicts Mercury thwarting the theft of prosperity from the city by Envy and Jealousy.  With glossy fields and lightly frosted devices, this medal celebrating a future of peace and prosperity for the city is a simply stunning example of the early 18th century engravers' art.  Ex: Vogel Collection.

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
