    Description

Hamburg. Free City gold Specimen "Town Hall" Medal of 5 Ducats 1888 SP64 PCGS, Gaed-2390. 18.28gm. Obv. City/town hall of Hamburg. Rev. Two lions holding helmeted coat of arms of the city. An impressive golden selection struck on the expansion of Hamburg's town hall. The fields retain a bright mirrored finish, with the reverse detail displayed in particularly stunning relief, the lions and city coat of arms in particular towering over the surrounding features to great visual delight. A scarce type prized by collectors for its design and historical importance, and worthy of a premium bid in this certified near-gem condition.
