Description

Rare Proof 5 Mark From Hesse-Darmstadt

Hesse-Darmstadt. Ernst Ludwig Proof 5 Mark 1900-A PR64 Cameo PCGS, Berlin mint, KM369, J-73, Dav-711. Mintage: 150. ERNST LUDWIG GROSHERZOG VON HESSEN. Head left // DEUTSCHES REICH (date), FUNF MARK below. Crowned imperial eagle. Bolstered by a palpably low Proof mintage of only 150 pieces, this 5 Mark issue is truly rare in the present format. Heritage has never before offered this date, the final year of the series, in Proof. Largely untoned, this near-Gem presents a dark, icy aesthetic aided by hints of sapphire blue tone. A tremendous challenge in the Proof 5 Mark Empire series, specialists will need to be on alert when this lot crosses the auction block.
