A Rare and Desirable Proof 20 Mark of Ludwig IV

Hesse-Darmstadt. Ludwig IV gold Proof 20 Mark 1892-A PR65 NGC, Berlin mint, KM365, Jaeger-221. One-year type. An exceptional Gem of this endlessly collectible type, tone-free throughout with field to highpoint contrast that approaches Cameo strength. Nearly pristine to the unaided eye, close inspection reveals some as-struck starburst-pattern freckling in the obverse fields, but the reflectivity remains prominent; given the mint-fresh surface quality, past careful handling is incredibly evident. A rarity in proof, and as such, one of the many top highlights of the phenomenal Kaiser Collection.
