Description
Saxe-Weissenfels. Johann Adolf I Taler 1686-SQ MS63 NGC, Weissenfels mint, KM20, Dav-7663. Intricately detailed over both sides with alluring intermingled gold, rose and blue iridescent tone that sits atop surfaces that possess impressive reflective gleam. A rare type, struck upon the death of Johann Adolf I's wife, and long adored for its depiction of Christ, staff in hand, carrying a lamb on his shoulders. Easily the finest quality we've seen for the issue as well, and as such, sure to excite the collector specializing in elite pictorial issues. From the Jamestown Collection
