Description

Saxony. Johann Georg I Taler 1650-CR MS65 PCGS, Dresden mint, KM425, Dav-7612. Obv. Half-length armored bost of Johann Georg I, with sword, facing right. Rev. Eight ornate helmets, dividing the date, 16-50, above arms. A stunning Mint State example of this 17th Century Saxony Taler. The strike is exceptional, for this often poorly produced type, with bright original mint luster beneath light reddish-gray and gold patina. Minor flan flaws, as made, are noted on the obverse, but no significant post-striking flaws mar the surfaces of this Gem example.

Metal: Silver
