Description

Saxony. Johann Georg IV Taler 1693-IK MS63 NGC, Dresden mint, KM618, Dav-7647. Exalted quality for this rare and desirable issue, possessing vivid rainbow-colored tone over lustrous surfaces, with only light evidence of handling that blends with the surfaces, a touch of striking weakness in Johann Georg IV's hair curls, as well as a small as-made planchet void near the plumes atop the helmet in front of his bust. Among the very finest survivors we've seen of this type, and presently the single finest graded at NGC for any date, with an accompanying value in the Standard Catalog of World Coins of $8,500 in MS60.
