Issued upon the occasion of Emil Fischer's 60th birthday.A prominent German chemist, Hermann Emil Louis Fischer advanced the idea to create the International Atomic Weights Commission in 1897 and was the recipient of the 1902 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on sugar and purine syntheses. While many chemical reactions and concepts are named after him, he never used his first given name, and was known throughout his life simply as Emil Fischer.
