Description

1836 Gobrecht Dollar
Judd-60 Original, Coin Alignment

1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1, PCGS Genuine. Proof. Silver. Plain Edge. No Stars Obverse, Stars Reverse. Die Alignment I (coin turn, center of Liberty's head opposite the D in DOLLAR). Die State F at least, though later state markers are obscured by the holder. The PCGS number ending in 98 suggests damage as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, it has the details of an AU specimen that has been repaired and smoothed. Detail is mostly strong, but old heavy scratches in the left obverse field have been partially smoothed. Elsewhere the coin displays scattered small marks and is bright.
