    Description

1836 Original Gobrecht Dollar, Proof Details

1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1--Polished--ANACS. Proof Details. Silver. Plain Edge. Die Alignment I. Original Issue of 1836 with the eagle flying upward. There is no die scratch above the eagle's wing, which would indicate this is one of the first 400 strikings from early December 1836. The surfaces are bright from polishing with a slight accent of color around the devices and the margins. Fully struck, as indicated by the complete definition on Liberty's foot, there are a number of small but individually insignificant contact marks on both sides of this proof coin that was struck for circulation.
