1836 Gobrecht Dollar, PR61
Judd-60 Original, Die Alignment I
Middle Die State

1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1 PR61 PCGS. Silver. Plain Edge. No Stars Obverse, Stars Reverse. Die Alignment I (coin turn, center of Liberty's head opposite the D in DOLLAR). Die State D, with the clash in the field above the eagle's wing clearly visible, but with no later die state markers present. The State B chips in the dentils above the final A in AMERICA are clear, but the State C rim nicks above the T in STATES are very faint. The coin is sharply struck and deeply mirrored, with blue and violet border toning around light golden interiors. Myriad hairlines throughout the fields determine the modest numeric grade from PCGS, but the coin remains pleasing. PCGS Population: 21 in 61, 80 finer (12/25).
