1836 Gobrecht Dollar, Evenly Toned PR50
    Judd-60 Original, Die Alignment I, State E

1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Coin Alignment, Pollock-65, R.1, PR50 PCGS. Silver. Plain Edge. Die Alignment I (center of Liberty's head is opposite the D in DOLLAR). DTS State E, with the curved rim nick above the A in STATES, but showing little or none of the die chip below the R in DOLLAR. The Mint's account books show that all Judd-60 Gobrechts were struck in the last week of December. This is a pleasing example that displays even gray toning across each side. The strike details are strong with only the slightest friction seen over the high points of the design. While all Gobrecht dollars are labeled by tradition as proofs, there is only minimal reflectivity evident on even the highest graded coins. This piece, with its slight handling and toning, shows even less brightness than usual with most of the reflectivity seen limited to the reverse fields.
