Exquisite Gem 1849 Closed Wreath Gold Dollar

1849 G$1 Closed Wreath MS65 PCGS. Unlike the double eagle, which was authorized in the same piece of legislation, the gold dollar went into regular production in 1849, though tinkering led to the Open Wreath and Closed Wreath variants. This gorgeous green-gold Gem is of the latter variety, frosty and boldly impressed with beautifully preserved surfaces. Population: 12 in 65, 4 finer (7/07).(Registry values: P4)
