    Description

Premium Gem 1849 Closed Wreath Gold Dollar
    Bold Date and Design Detail

1849 G$1 Closed Wreath MS66 PCGS. Boldly hubbed date. While the Closed Wreath is significantly less famous than its one-year-only Open Wreath predecessor, in Premium Gem it is a condition rarity that should not be underestimated. This MS66 example has strong apricot tints over a sun-yellow base and swirling luster around. Liberty's portrait displays intricate detail, as does the wreath, though the stars show a touch of softness in their centers. As expected for the grade, the surfaces are magnificently smooth aside from a few shallow marks near the truncation of the bust. Population: 4 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer (1/13).(Registry values: P4)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BA, PCGS# 7503)

    Weight: 1.67 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
