Beautiful Near-Gem 1849-O Gold Dollar
1849-O G$1 MS64 NGC. A lustrous O-mint gold dollar that appears undergraded at first glance. Careful study beneath a loupe is required to locate a few faint hairlines on the left obverse field. Several letters in the reverse legend are repunched, including the R in DOLLAR and the MER in AMERICA. The obverse stars are unevenly entered, with the lower stars fully formed while the stars above Liberty are spidery.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BE, PCGS# 7508, Greysheet# 8056)
