Description

MS64 1849-O Gold Dollar
A High Grade, Original Example

1849-O G$1 Open Wreath MS64 PCGS. Variety One. Because of the existence of a small hoard the 1849-O is now a more available example of this popular first-year New Orleans issue. That being said, it is still most uncommon in MS64. This is an exceptional coin that is sharply defined throughout and the obverse fields are bright and semiprooflike. Rich reddish-gold and lilac color is interspersed on both obverse and reverse. A couple of tiny field marks can be found with a magnifier. Population: 15 in 64, 4 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BE, PCGS# 7508, Greysheet# 8056)
