1849-O Open Wreath Gold Dollar, MS64
Rare Any Finer
1849-O G$1 Open Wreath MS64 PCGS. Variety 2. This is one of
three known varieties for the issue, seen here with the mintmark
placed lower than Variety 1 and before the reverse was heavily
lapped as seen on Variety 3. The 1849-O was generously minted and
Uncirculated examples are widely available, although they are
increasingly difficult in MS64 and especially finer condition. This
is a sharply struck, rich orange-gold coin that shows only the
smallest abrasions when closely examined. Population: 21 in 64, 5
