    1850-D Gold Dollar, MS61
    Very Rare in Uncirculated Grades

1850-D G$1 MS61 NGC. Variety 2-C. This is the second-rarest Type One dollar from the Dahlonega Mint. The 1850-D was struck to the extent of just 8,300 coins, and as expected examples are scarce in all grades. Survival estimates range from 125 to 175 pieces extant, six to eight of which are in Uncirculated condition. This MS61 coin is typically struck with central softness on both sides and mostly indistinct dentils. Yellow-gold surfaces exhibit small abrasions throughout. NGC reports seven grading events in MS61 and 12 examples finer, no doubt including numerous resubmissions (2/15).(Registry values: N4719)
