Description

Fully Struck 1850-O Gold Dollar, MS63
Lowest Mintage New Orleans Issue

1850-O G$1 MS63 PCGS. Variety 1. A razor-sharp orange-gold representative that has a high grade reverse and only a few delicate obverse field grazes. Since silver coins were hoarded in the South by 1850, the low mintage of the 1850-O is difficult to fathom, though a reasonable New Orleans quarter eagle production that year may be responsible. Nearly unobtainable any finer. Population: 6 in 63, 2 finer (3/13).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BJ, PCGS# 7512, Greysheet# 8059)

Weight: 1.67 grams
