Description
1851-C G$1 --Improperly Cleaned--NCS. Unc Details. Variety 4-D. The stars show recutting, and the mintmark is nearly centered under the bow. There are also traces of clash marks from Liberty's head within the wreath. A delightfully sharp Charlotte Mint piece, one of just 41,267 pieces minted. Lemon-gold surfaces have numerous hairlines in the fields, evidence of a prior cleaning, but none are particularly noteworthy. Still, a lovely example of a Type One gold dollar.
