Description

1851-D Gold Dollar, AU58
Much Mint Luster Remains

1851-D G$1 AU58 NGC. Variety 3-D. This is an intermediate die state of 3-D as it shows reverse clash marks, but there is no die crack from the first S in STATES to the rim. Just the faintest thinning of luster can be seen in the fields. The hair details on the obverse are weakly defined, but elsewhere the strike details are strong on this bright orange-gold dollar.(Registry values: N1793)
