Description

1851-D Gold Dollar, MS62
High-Grade Georgia Coin

1851-D G$1 MS62 NGC. Variety 3-E, with a leaf under the center of the second 1 in the date. The Dahlonega Mint struck 9,882 gold dollars in 1851. About 300 to 400 of them survive, but they are scarcely seen in Mint State and rarely any finer than MS62. This piece is fully struck with satiny luster glowing around the devices. Yellow-gold surfaces show heavy clashing. Census: 23 in 62 (1 in 62+), 9 finer (7/22).
