Description
1851-D Gold Dollar, MS62
Conditionally Rare Georgia Type Coin
1851-D G$1 MS62 PCGS. Winter 3-E. From a mintage of 9,882
gold dollars, the 1851-D is the second most available date in the
series among Dahlonega issues after the 1849-D. Even so, Mint State
examples are scarce, and PCGS reports only 37 Uncirculated coins.
This MS62 is the more common Winter 3-E variety, and it displays
satiny luster on vibrant green-gold surfaces splashed with subtle
waves of orange and rose. The strike is sharp with typical die
clashes on both sides. PCGS shows only 12 numerically finer
examples (3/26).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BM, PCGS# 7515, Greysheet# 8061)
