Description

1851 Gold Dollar, MS67
Sparkling Yellow-Gold Surfaces

1851 G$1 MS67 NGC. This fully struck and highly lustrous Superb Gem has frosty yellow-gold color with tending toward light green. It is a well-made example with exceptional aesthetic appeal. A tiny die bulge near the forecurl attests to the late die state, as do minor die cracks at the lower left part of the obverse. Nearly vertical striae are barely seen in the fields on both sides, a feature that is only visible with magnification. Struck during the height of the California gold rush with a strong possibility that this piece was actually coined from gold mined in that region. Census: 3 in 67, 3 finer (6/11).(Registry values: N1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BK, PCGS# 7513, Greysheet# 8011)
