Description

1851-O Gold Dollar, MS65+
Frosty Luster, Stellar Eye Appeal
Rarely Encountered This Fine

1851-O G$1 MS65+ PCGS. CAC. Winter-1. The southwest point of the star at 11 o'clock is recut. The obverse is uncracked on this high-end Gem 1851-O gold dollar, and the surfaces yield vibrant, frosty yellow-gold luster. Minor die fatigue is evident around the peripheries, and slight strike weakness is seen in the extreme centers. The preservation is exceptional, and the eye appeal superb. This New Orleans issue is among the more available from this mint, but Gem-quality examples are rare, and anything finer is prohibitively so. The present CAC-endorsed representative will please even the most discerning Southern gold collector. Population: 29 in 65 (5 in 65+), 4 finer. CAC: 8 in 65, 3 finer (2/25).(Registry values: N4719)
