Description

    Choice 1852-C Gold Dollar
    Well-Struck Portrait

1852-C G$1 MS64 NGC. CAC. Variety 2. A beautiful Choice Charlotte gold dollar. The borders are rich peach-gold while the open fields display lighter apricot shades. The portrait is sharply struck, even on the curls near the ear, and the fields are devoid of marks. Shallow mint-made strike-throughs are present between the LA in DOLLAR and beneath Liberty's chin, but they have no effect on the technical grade. The 1852-C has a mintage of just 9,434 pieces and although resubmissions have inflated the third party census, a majority of survivors are in XF or AU grades. Census: 7 in 64, 5 finer (1/13).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 25BR, PCGS# 7518)

    Weight: 1.67 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
