Description

Appealing 1852-O Gold Dollar, MS63

1852-O G$1 MS63 PCGS. The 1852-O gold dollar is easily located in grades through low Mint State. In MS63, however, it is scarce, and anything higher is rare. Lovely rose-gold patina drapes the satiny surfaces of this well preserved piece. The strike is sharp save for some minor softness on the LA in DOLLAR and the 85 in the date. A faint clash mark is seen on the reverse, and it appears that a thin line above the tip of the crown was caused by a piece of wire in the coining chamber. Population: 14 in 63, 6 finer (8/09).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BT, PCGS# 7520, Greysheet# 8065)

Weight: 1.67 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
