Description

Choice AU 1853-C Gold Dollar
Great Blend of Colors

1853-C G$1 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. A single die pair was used to strike the 11,515 gold dollars made at Charlotte in 1853. As an AU55 example, this is an important survivor, still-lustrous but relatively accessible with patches of orange-gold against a butter-yellow base. The Census Report for higher grades is wildly inflated by resubmissions.(Registry values: N1793)
