1853-C G$1 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. Sole die combination known
for this issue. A tiny mintage of 11,515 pieces ensures the rarity
of this Charlotte issue. Reddish-gold coloration runs over both
sides of this Choice AU example. The design features are
well-struck except for the typical softness in the hair at
Liberty's temple and forehead. Census: 15 in 55, 84 finer
