Description

1853 Gold Dollar, MS66
A Remarkable Type Coin

1853 G$1 MS66 NGC. More than 4 million gold dollars were produced in 1853, and predictably this date is a popular one for type purposes. Production quality was also high this year, as demonstrated on this piece. The surfaces are remarkably lustrous and the striking details are complete on each side. The only post-production flaws are a couple of barely discernable luster grazes to the right of the 1 in the denomination on the reverse.(Registry values: N4719)
