1853 G$1 MS66 PCGS. CAC. The early 1850s were the peak years of the California gold rush, and huge quantities of fresh gold were transported to the Philadelphia and New Orleans Mints. More than 4 million gold dollars were coined in 1853, the highest mintage of any issue. However, Gem and finer coins are quite rare today. This Premium Gem has brilliant yellow luster with pristine surfaces and full details, an exceptional specimen. Population: 32 in 66, 11 finer (5/13).(Registry values: N4719)
