1853 Gold Dollar, A High End Gem
1853 G$1 MS66 NGC. The 1853 boasts the highest mintage (4 million pieces) in the Type One Gold Dollar series, and examples in all grades are prized for type purposes. This is not to imply that high grade Mint State survivors are common, especially when compared to the number of collectors in today's hobby. This is a premium quality Gem with richly colored, reddish-gold surfaces and a sharp strike in all areas. The frosty finished surfaces are smooth with not a single distracting blemish to report.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BU, PCGS# 7521, GSID# 8013)
