Rare New Orleans Gem
1853-O G$1 MS65 PCGS. Variety 1. This is last readily
collectible New Orleans issue of the gold dollar series, struck to
the extent of 290,000 coins. The 1853-O experienced more extensive
circulation than its Philadelphia counterpart, and Gem Uncirculated
examples are genuinely rare. This piece is an outstanding
representative, showing bold detail and satiny yellow-gold luster
that is free of major abrasions. Population: 6 in 65, 3 finer
