Description
1854-D Gold Dollar, AU Details
Just 100-125 Examples Extant
1854-D G$1 -- Scratch -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Winter
6-H. Satiny surfaces with yellow-gold color and expectedly soft
central detail. A few short scratches in the reverse fields prevent
a numeric grade. The original mintage of the 1854-D gold dollar is
a mere 2,935 pieces, of which about 100-125 exist today, according
to Doug Winter. The inherent scarcity of this issue applies across
the board, but is particularly magnified in high grades.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2017), lot 4789; FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2018), lot 5963.
