Popular 1854 Type Two Gold Dollar, MS64
1854 G$1 Type Two MS64 NGC. The Type Two Philadelphia gold dollar issues of 1854 and 1855 enjoy unceasing demand from type collectors, and while the two dates may be available for a price in the lower Mint State grades, by the near-Gem level, demand is well in excess of supply. This is a lovely MS64 example, butter-yellow with canary accents and strong and satiny luster. Liberty's portrait has uncommonly sharp detail, though even this well-defined coin cannot avoid central reverse weakness entirely. Smooth and delightful.
