1855-C G$1 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1. The Type Two gold dollars were coined at all operating mints in the middle 1850s, including Philadelphia in 1854 and 1855, Charlotte, Dahlonega, and New Orleans in 1855 only, and San Francisco in 1856.
The central reverse is extremely weak, affecting the 8 and the LL in DOLLARS; each of those features are obliterated, with only the bottom of the 8 visible. Both sides of this high grade specimen have bluish-gray patina on the devices with lustrous yellow-gold fields and delicate greenish overtones. Population: 6 in 58, 3 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N2998)
