1855 Gold Dollar, MS65
Excellent Type Two Example
1855 G$1 Type Two MS65 PCGS. The 1855 gold dollar is always
in demand as a representative of the short-lived Type Two design.
From a mintage of 758,269 pieces, the 1855 is slightly scarcer in
today's market than its 1854 counterpart. Despite the substantial
production total, the 1855 is quite elusive at the MS65 grade
level, as relatively few examples were saved by contemporary
numismatists.This impressive Gem features well-detailed design elements that show a touch of the always-seen softness on the date and denomination. The 1 in the denomination shows signs of recutting. The orange-gold surfaces are well-preserved, with vibrant, satiny mint luster. Population: 43 in 65 (1 in 65+), 17 finer (11/15).(Registry values: N7079)
