Description

1856-D Gold Dollar, AU50
Key Date; Fewer Than 100 Extant

1856-D G$1 AU50 PCGS. Winter 8-K. Warm yellow-gold surfaces are consistent throughout both sides and abrasion free, save for an old mark between the ME of AMERICA. Weakness around the central reverse, and at the U in UNITED on the obverse, are typical for the issue. The 1856-D gold dollar is considered one of the key dates of the series, with an original mintage of 1,460 and a survivorship of under 100 examples.
