Description

1856-S G$1 Type Two AU50 PCGS. FS-501. The mintmark is widely repunched. A normal mintmark variety is also known. Of greater interest to San Francisco collectors is the Type Two design of Liberty, available from this mint only on the '56-S, which is considerably scarcer than its 1854 and 1855 Type Two predecessors. Well struck with smooth, luminous peach-gold surfaces. Housed in a green label holder.(Registry values: N1793)
