Scarce 1856-S Type Two Gold Dollar
AU58, Breen-6045, Double S
1856-S G$1 Type Two AU58 NGC. Breen-6045, Double S. The
first S mintmark was punched too high and to the right. The 1856-S
is scarce in grades above Extremely Fine. Variegated apricot and
yellow-gold patina covers both sides of this AU58 specimen, and a
precise strike brings out nice detail on the design features. The
surfaces retain considerable luster, and are lightly marked. A
couple of obverse cracks are noted.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25C8, PCGS# 7536, GSID# 8075)
