Description

1856-S/S G$1 FS-501 AU53 PCGS. The 1856-S is the sole San Francisco Type Two issue, struck while other mints had begun production of the Type Three design. Despite a mintage of only 24,600 pieces, two reverse dies are known, including the present widely repunched mintmark variety. An original caramel-gold example with minimal wear and pleasing surfaces.
