1857-C Gold Dollar, MS61+
Few Certified Finer
1857-C G$1 MS61+ NGC. Variety 1. A satiny and unmarked
apricot-gold example. Portions of the dentils are softly impressed,
but the overall strike is sharp by Charlotte standards. A
lamination below the mintmark is strictly of mint origin. Struck
from moderately rotated dies. The 1857-C gold dollar has a meager
mintage of 13,280 pieces, and is typically encountered in XF to AU
grades. NGC has certified only a baker's dozen as Mint State.
